Mexico City's rich culture on $20 a day

In Mexico, a dollar is a lot. $20 and you'll be fully satisfied , by anything from a wrestling match to a night of dancing in the clubs.

Start with a free walk around the Histories, where you'll be impressed by the huge central plaza, the Zocalo. If you are lucky enough to make it on a weekend , you may have an outdoor concert going on, and during the day you'll find street protesters, crafts vendors and traditional dance groups.

At the Templo Mayor, archaeologists are stll excavating ruins of the civilization that fell to the Spaniards. $4 is enough for both the museum and the site.Next to it is the city's Metropolitan Cathedral, a designe of 16 architects and built over two centuries.East is where you will find the National Palace, where awesome murals by Diego Rivera lay out the Mexican history. The entrance is free, paying about $9 to any of the guides for explaining things., it is worth getting serious and checking out the local museums, most of which only charge $4 or less. Many are all over the city's Chapultepec park, where you'll be fascinated by outdoor monuments, playgrounds and street performers while you take a break from the city streets.

After all the great adventure, have urelf a treat at La Bodega, at Popocatepetl 25,where you can have dinner for about $15. Be ready to spend $5-$10 more on weekends and you can have the wonderful experience to dine while listening to live pop, rock or blues, or even a live comedian. You deserve this one-- a night to feel free and relaxed and have fun after the period of adventure, exploring in one of the world's most interesting and exciting cities.
